How to Setup Your Guitar Like a Pro: An Easy Guide for Beginners | Why don't have this book?
I got a brand new less paul, and it arrived fine.
But I wanted it set up the way I play.
This book will help you set up your guitar they way you like it.
You don't jump in a car without adjusting the seat, right?
There you go.
Great book, thank you for putting this out there. So much information.

How to Setup Your Guitar Like a Pro: An Easy Guide for Beginners | My guitars are better than NEW now!!!
This book is outstanding, but it's an even better experience to attend one of the Blackwood Guitarworks classes in person - google them and find a class near you. Buy the book first though - it will help you in class. Excellent instruction!

How to Setup Your Guitar Like a Pro: An Easy Guide for Beginners | Comprehensive, complete guide.
I've been playing for years, (I'm not goo) but I like to sound good. I detest string buzz of any sort, I'm not afraid to monkey around with adjusting saddles, pick ups, tremolo springs, so on. I decided I might as well learn how to do it right, so I can set my various guitars right, particularly my Fender Strat, PRS Custom, Telecaster. These for some reason seem to give me problems, so I want to set them straight. I expect following the instructions guidance given in this book will get me there. I purchased a guitar set up tool kit as well. Need the tools to do the job.

How to Setup Your Guitar Like a Pro: An Easy Guide for Beginners | Concise and complete for a beginner.
I think the sign of an expert teacher is someone that can take all their knowledge and concisely explain the most important parts in an organized way. That’s what I look for any time I’m allowing money to leave my bank account to pay for learning - and that’s what this book is.
This book does a great job of being concise and walking you through a full setup from start to finish. Not too in depth and not too basic. I’ve never done a guitar setup but I’m patient and have some mechanical skill. I now have the best playing electric I’ve ever owned. Almost perfectly in tune across the entire neck. Amazing and fun to play for the first time. I’m no longer cringing when a note way up on the 17th fret is out of tune even though it’s in tune while player open. It sounds so amazing.
I only own Fender style instruments and I appreciated that this book also explained the other styles of bridges and nuts so I know what I’m up against if I buy an Ibanez or Gibson. It also covered the basics of setting up an acoustic but doesn’t go into incredible detail on bridge work - doesn’t talk at all about how to lengthen or shorten the string length if you are having intonation issues on an acoustic. It does talk about adjusting the height of the bridge on an acoustic though. String length on an acoustic is way more complicated so that makes sense to skip it but an explanation as to why it was skipped or generally what needs to be accomplished would have been nice even if not fully explained.

“I just wanted to say thanks for a righteous weekend. It was well paced (but fast), the delivery was great, and it was nice to have immediate access to your expertise. I learned a lot, and look forward to honing my skills on future projects. Thanks again, it was very cool.”

“The class was absolutely fantastic! Going into the class, I understood a little about guitar set-ups but didn’t have the confidence to adjust my truss-rod or the skills to do a great job on intonation. After the class I am ready to setup all of my guitars!”
Adam S.
Edmonton, AB
“I had a great time and learned a lot. You’re very approachable, knowledgeable and you make it easy to ask questions. In my estimation, these are the most important qualities for a good teacher to have. Keep up the great work and I hope to take another of your classes in the future.”
